With a Case Study on Massachusetts
Small commercial solar hasn’t reached the growth potential of large commercial, growing just one-tenth as much in 2017. Several financiers have targeted the small commercial space, but the industry has yet to reach a true inflection point. However, small commercial represents a ripe opportunity for more varied financial products, both for PPAs and leases as well as loans.
To track distributed solar markets, GTM Research collects project-level datasets from dozens of data sources spanning more than 15 state markets. Massachusetts presented a prime opportunity to examine competitive landscape trends, because comprehensive data is available for both system installer and system owner, allowing for analysis of installer-owner dynamics.
